Maria T. Cannon
Junior Associate
Maria T. Cannon is a part-time associate at Amineddoleh & Associates LLC. Prior to her work in art law, Maria gained experience as an extern in the North Carolina General Assembly Legislative Analysis Division in Raleigh. Following her externship, Maria was encouraged by a mentor to pursue art law as a career option, based on Maria’s voluble enjoyment of an Alphonse Mucha exhibit running at the North Carolina Museum of Art in Raleigh. From there, Maria met our firm’s founder, and served as an intern for Leila. Due to her success in that position, she stayed on with the firm and now serves as an associate.
Maria has a love of legal research, writing, and advocacy. She is particularly drawn to cases involving trademark protection and licensing, and strives to protect the rights of artists. Maria also has a strong interest in Asian art, and is learning Japanese in her free time, in order to better represent client needs internationally. In her free time, she enjoys attending the ballet, painting ceramics, and baking dog treats for her labradoodle, Charley.
Education
Maria earned her J.D. from the University of North Carolina Law School, where she researched topics in privacy law and environmental policy. Prior to enrolling at UNC, Maria completed her undergraduate degree at Wake Forest University in English Literature.
